At the start of the year, our colleague Herman Briké became one of the ambassadors for Climbing for Life 2019. Saturday 15th of June was D-day for him and Herman climbed the mythical Stelvio together with his fellow ambassadors.
Climbing for Life
Climbing for Life – in cooperation with the Diabetes Liga and Association Belge des Diabètes – wants to bring diabetes under the attention and wants to encourage people to move more. The past 6 months Herman – who is a diabetes patient himself – was prepared together with 11 fellow ambassadors under medical supervision for the climb of the Passo Dello Stelvio by bike.
D-Day
1500 Belgians travelled to Bormio (Italy) for the annual bike event. Saturday the 15th of June was D-day with the actual climbing of the mighty mountain! All of the ambassadors reached the top thanks to an intensive training schedule and a lot of willpower. The cyclists were supported during the climb by ex-world champions Johan Museeuw and Etienne De Wilde who also participated.
What an accomplishment! What an achievement! Hats off for these heroes of the Stelvio.
